Europe Trip: Fehér Szikla Vadászház

February 5, 2015 By Jennifer

5 Feb

Whenever we are with Péter and Csilla, we always eat well. They know all of the best kept secrets and hideaways so when they suggested that we have dinner at the Fehér Szikla Vadászház, we were totally game. Fehér Szikla Vadászház is a charming hunting lodge and restaurant located in the Zemplén mountains near the Hungary/Slovakia border. Péter and Csilla have become good friends with the lodge’s proprietors over the years and on this particular evening we were treated to the chef’s choice menu which included guinea fowl soup, stuffed fried chicken and  parená knedľa, a Slovak steamed bread dumpling which was served with venison in plum sauce that was so good I nearly made myself sick. Seriously, this was some of the best food I have ever had.
