If you have boys, you’re probably fairly well acquainted with Marvel comics. They are home to X-Men, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Spider-Man (my son’s favorite), Thor, The Avengers, Captain America and… Jane Austen? That’s right, you heard me. Jane Austen. Marvel Comics has come out with Marvel Classics and author Nancy Butler has adapted three of Ms. Austen’s most well-known books, Emma, Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility into gorgeous graphic novels. They would be perfect Christmas gifts for any little (or big) girls on your list. I have both Emma and Pride and Prejudice and I love them (I’m sure I would love Sense and Sensibility too, if I had it… hint, hint). They come in both hardcover and paperback, but they are so much fun to flip through that you are going to want the hardcover for sure.
Emma Pride and Prejudice Sense and Sensibility
My fingers are crossed that Ms. Butler will adapt more of Ms. Austen’s stories for Marvel Classics. I think that Persuasion would be amazing as a graphic novel.
