Whenever we make it back to Colorado I insist on stopping at one of my favorite burger joints, the wonderfully delicious Smashburger. When I talk about it (and believe me, I can talk about it at length… don’t get me started) people always ask if the burgers are as good as In-N-Out and I’m slightly embarrassed to say, I don’t know. I’ve never actually had their burgers because I am so completely in love with their chicken sandwiches (also, I’m not a big red meat eater, so I don’t think I’m the best judge of what is or isn’t “the best” when it comes to burgers… David says that Smashburger makes his shortlist though). As much as I love their chicken, their fries are what really won me over, or rather their Smashfries and their (even better) sweet potato smashfries. You see, to make smashfries, you take a regular batch of fries and toss them with olive oil, rosemary and garlic. They are divine! I crave them constantly but, alas they were too far away….
Until today (well, yesterday). The L.A. market just got its very first Smashburger (okay, so it is a little bit of a jaunt from L.A. because it is actually in Thousand Oaks, but who doesn’t love Ventura County?). David and I made a trip over this afternoon for lunch and it was every bit as good as I remember it being in Colorado, except maybe even better because it’s here and I don’t have to go that far to get it! According to one of the employees (who were all very nice, by the way) there are 60 Smashburgers going into the L.A. market. Between the Chic-Fil-A and Smashburgers opening up all over town, I’m going to be in chicken heaven (and bigger pants if I’m not careful).

They just opened a Smashburger out here by us in San Diego. I haven’t been yet, but now I might have to go check it out! 🙂
