Hunger Strike

March 7, 2012 By Jennifer

Okay… so when my friend told me about the Twilight books and how much she loved them, I said never in a million years will I read a book about an angst ridden teenager and her vampire/werewolf love triangle. Then I had another friend tell me about them… and another… and another. I finally gave in and I read the entire series over a four day period. I learned that a person should never say “never.”

The latest book series that has everyone buzzing seems to be The Hunger Games. I was a late comer to this one as well. A book that is about a post-apocalyptic game show featuring contestants who are forced to fight to the death? Um… no thanks. So not my cup of tea. Or is it? Again, several friends told me about how great they thought this was and I didn’t listen. My friends have pretty good taste; I really need to start being more open to their suggestions. Then my mom told me how much she enjoyed the books and before I knew it, I found myself reading the first book. By the end of the first chapter I was hooked and I had finished the book by that afternoon. I haven’t started the second one yet, but I’m planning on reading the entire series. The book was that good. I’m also really excited to see the movie when it comes out at the end of this month! It should be great.

My mom picked up The Hunger Games: Official Illustrated Movie Companion and I have had so much fun flipping through it and seeing who was cast in the film and how they made them up to look like the different characters. It looks like the movie will follow the book pretty closely. The set and costume design is pretty impressive. I’m seriously so excited to see it! Only a couple more weeks!Oh, and Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid’s son Jack is in the film. It should be interesting.
