Despite what the recipes I tend to post on this blog would lead you to believe, I’m not much of a sweets eater. I love to bake, but I usually only have a bite or two and then give the rest to family and friends. Some people are stress eaters. I’m a stress baker.
There are, of course, exceptions to the rule. Littlejohn’s Candies English Toffee is one of those exceptions. And let me tell you, it is a big exception. It is like crack. You cannot stop eating it (at least I can’t). It is crunchy and it melts in your mouth at the same time. Divine. Speaking of divine, if you’re into divinity, they have that too… and fudge… and a variety of other old-fashioned candies. This place is a genuine Los Angeles treasure that has been around since 1946. It is super charming. Everything about it feels old-fashioned (in a good way). The boxes are darling and the only thing that makes them feel like they came from 2011 as opposed to 1946 is the fact that they list their website address in their contact information. Located in Los Angeles at 3rd and Fairfax in The Farmer’s Market (you know, that enchanting little maze of shops and stalls next to the Grove), this place is one of my all-time favorites.
