Things I Love: The Taffy Shop

October 12, 2012 By Jennifer

12 Oct

Salt water taffy may have originated in Atlantic City, but there is no better salt water taffy on Earth that that which comes from The Taffy Shop in Estes Park, Colorado. Words cannot express the absolute perfection of these petit delights. They are so soft, they practically melt in your mouth and they have just the right amount of flavor. I always stock up when I’m back visiting family, but no matter how much I buy, I can’t seem to keep it in the house (I do have a secret stash, but I’m totally not telling where it is). I’m not much of a sweets eater (I know my recipe postings would suggest otherwise, but I swear it’s the truth) but I don’t know if I could ever pass up a piece of taffy from The Taffy Shop.  I have been going there since I was a little girl and just walking through the doors brings back lovely memories. Their flavors are all excellent, but my hands-down favorite is lemon, with cinnamon coming in at a close second. David prefers Texas pecan and chocolate and my kids will eat any flavor they can get their little hands on. Seriously, you can’t go wrong with whatever you pick. Can’t decide? Get a mixed box (the big one, trust me). Just be sure to get there early because they close promptly at 5:00 (very promptly).
