Hungarian Housewife

Elvis and Anabelle

October 10, 2012 By Jennifer Leave a Comment

We’ve all heard the old adage that you should never judge a book by its cover. Well, you should never judge a movie by its description either. The other day I was flipping through the movie channels in search of something interesting. One of the titles caught my eye. It was called Elvis & Anabelle the cast seemed to be pretty well-rounded; Blake Lively, Max Minghella, Joe Mantegna, Mary Steenburgen and Keith Carradine. Interesting title? Check. Respectable cast? Check. Description? This is where things got a little shaky. The description said that the movie was about a small town beauty queen who dies on the catwalk and is brought back to life by a mortician’s kiss. So not my cup of tea.

I was about to pass but then I thought that the description was so random that I had to at least see how it started (and see if it was as bad as I imagined it would be). As soon as I started watching, I found myself completely hooked by the story. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not at all what I had expected. It is one of those sweet quirky movies that really grows on you. Blake Lively and Max Minghella are completely adorable and you will absolutely fall in love with Joe Mantegna’s character, Charlie. From a filmmaking standpoint, the cinematography is lovely and the story is charming. Not only will I be watching Elvis & Anabelle again, but I’m going to be purchasing the DVD.

Nothing highlights fine lines and wrinkles quite like dry skin, so I was intrigued when @influenster sent me this @ponds Rejuveness Advanced Hydrating Night Cream to test and review. Pond’s has over 150 years experience in the skincare game and I had so many friends growing up that had mothers and grandmothers who were completely devoted to the brand. The cream is ultra hydrating and has a delightfully fresh scent and I’ve found it to be nice addition to my skin care routine during these dry autumn months. Plus, with an $8 price tag, it won’t break the bank.
